- proper saving, filing or naming of documents
- securing confidential information
- responding to information requests, whether informal or through the Right to Information and Protection of Privacy Act
- selecting and implementing new software or other tools for managing documents
- training employees on how to manage documents, or on document management software systems
- inventorying files, transferring them to offsite storage, or destroying them
- developing policies or providing advice and training about any of the activities listed above
